Premier League big guns Chelsea, Manchester City, Southampton
and Tottenham all suffered shock home defeats in the fourth round of the
FA Cup on Saturday.
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho had said it would be a "disgrace" if the
Premier League leaders lost at home to Bradford City and the Blues were
duly humbled by the Sky Bet League One side who came from behind to
snatch a sensational 4-2 victory at Stamford Bridge and end hopes of a
‘quadruple’ for the Londoners.
Manchester City, currently second behind Chelsea in the Premier League,
were also sent crashing out of the FA Cup after losing 2-0 at home to
Middlesbrough.
City, who only returned from their training camp in Abu Dhabi on Friday,
were caught cold in the 53rd minute when Boro striker Patrick Bamford,
who is on loan from Chelsea, took advantage of a defensive
misunderstanding.
City substitute Frank Lampard almost earned a replay when his deflected
89th-minute shot hit the post, but Kike raced clear in the dying moments
to wrap up the win for Boro.
Southampton, who are third in the Premier League, also bowed out after losing 3-2 at home to Crystal Palace.
Sixth-placed
Tottenham were another team to suffer at home as the Premier League's
basement side Leicester City came from behind to win 2-1 at White Hart
Lane.
While Swansea, ninth in the top-flight, had earlier lost 3-1 to Championship side Blackburn in the lunchtime kick-off. ...Skysports
