Jamie Carragher has hit out at Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho once more - claiming he will never be loved outside of the clubs he managed.

The Blues players appeared to surround the referee during Wednesday's Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain urging him to send off Zlatan Ibrahimovic for his challenge on Oscar. The incident triggered widespread criticism of Mourinho and Chelsea, with Carragher and Sky colleague Graeme Souness scathing about the actions of he players.

The Liverpool legend has continued his verbal assault in his Daily Mail column, saying the Portuguese boss will care about how he is perceived once he retires.

Elderly nun gang-raped by bandits as she tried to stop them from stealing

A nun aged 72 has been gang-raped by bandits as she tried to stop them stealing from a convent. The senior sister is in critical condition after she was attacked when up to a dozen attackers who broke in to the building at around 1am this morning.

They tied up several nuns as they began to steal from the Convent of Jesus and Mary School, in Ranaghat, India.

Man City stunned by Burnley as they lost 1-0

Manchester City’s hopes of defending their Premier League title were dealt a severe blow as they were beaten 1-0 by Burnley at Turf Moor.

The damaging defeat leaves the champions five points behind leaders Chelsea but having played two games more. And they can only have themselves to blame after another sub-standard display against Burnley, who are now just a point from moving out of the relegation zone.

Ex-teaching assistant had sex with schoolboys at family home while husband was at work

A mother-of-two who had sex with schoolboys at her family home has avoided jail. The former teaching assistant, Emma Webb, 44, romped with the youngsters on the stairs and on her living room floor.

She also lured "inexperienced" boys, aged 15 and 16, into her car for steamy sex sessions in a "disgraceful" abuse of her power, the court heard.

Webb texted the boys, telling them to leave lessons, and would lead them to a deserted maths classroom at a Wokingham school where she performed oral sex on them.

Wenger plots Monaco upset

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says Saturday’s 3-0 win over West Ham sets his side up nicely for Tuesday’s Champions League clash with Monaco.

The Gunners were unable to fully capitalise on their first-half superiority at the Emirates but Olivier Giroud scored just before half-time to put them into the lead. They then weathered some West Ham pressure after the break, before Aaron Ramsey and Mathieu Flamini wrapped up the victory with second-half goals.

Alexis Sanchez insists he did NOT allow friends to secretly film him having sex with his ex-girlfriend.

The Arsenal star was caught at the centre of a sex scandal at the weekend after his ex, Valentina Roth, claimed the Chilean international had knowingly allowed his friends to film them from a wardrobe as they engaged in intercourse.

But Sanchez took to Twitter to deny the claims, both in English and Spanish, insisting that the story is false.

Iraqi forces 'hope to take Tikrit from IS in a week'

Iraqi forces hope to retake the city of Tikrit from Islamic State (IS) within a week, a commander has told the BBC.

The head of one of the Shia militia brigades fighting alongside government forces said that IS militants still held about 70% of Tikrit's town centre. But he said Tikrit would be "liberated" even if it required street-to-street fighting.

Soldiers and militiamen have reportedly retaken key sites including a police headquarters and a hospital.

Pope Francis hints at 'brief' papacy

Pope Francis has suggested he may resign his papacy like his predecessor, rather than remain at the Vatican for life. The pontiff made the comments during a interview with Mexican television, marking the second anniversary of his election. 

"I have the feeling that my pontificate will be brief. Four or five years; I do not know, even two or three," he said. 

He praised Pope Benedict's decision to step aside in 2013 as "courageous". "Benedict should not be considered an exception, but an institution. Maybe he will be the only one for a long time, maybe he will not be the only one. But an institutional door has been opened," he told Televisa channel.

Liverpool sweating over Raheem Sterling's future as contract talks pend

Raheem Sterling has shelved contract talks until the end of the season. The 20-year-old forward has told Liverpool he wants to concentrate on helping them finish as high in the Premier League as possible and on their FA Cup run.

South Africa concern at Nigeria 'mercenaries'

The South African government is concerned its nationals may be working as mercenaries in Nigeria in the war against the Boko Haram militant group.

Nigerian government spokesman Mike Omeri told the BBC that foreigners were just training troops in the use of new weapons.

Nigeria has recently bought helicopter gunships and tanks from South Africa and former Soviet Union countries. But the South African government says the men may be involved in fighting.

Troops Discover Terrorists Bomb Making Factory In Yobe State, Nigeria

The ongoing cordon and search by troops in Buni Yadi,Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State has led to the discovery of a Bomb Making factory, where improvised explosive devices (IEDs) used by  terrorists were being produced.  A large quantity of IEDs including those commonly used by suicide bombers were recovered from the site.

The factory, which was located in a fertilizer company, has also converted some of the materials therein for production of all types of IEDs. Troops are still evacuating the materials which include a large quantity of suicide bomber vests from the facility to their base.  It is believed that the heavy calibre bomb used in blowing up the bridge between Damaturu and Buni Yadi was produced in the factory.

Manuel Pellegrini has criticised players who surround referees to influence decisions and has insisted it is not his – nor Manchester City’s – style.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho and Sky Sports pundits Jamie Carragher and Graeme Souness have become embroiled in a war of words over “gamesmanship” – a tactic of influencing referees that Carragher believes is a symptom of Mourinho’s teams.

City boss Pellegrini agrees it is a common theme in football born of the ferocious competition to win, but he insists there is always a “correct” way of doing things.

The second video below shows clearly, two of the robbers and their brand of weapons.

Oscar Pistorius murder case appeal challenge rejected

Oscar Pistorius's lawyers have failed to block an appeal by prosecutors against the South African Paralympian's acquittal on murder charges.

He was cleared of murder last year but was sentenced to five years in jail for the lesser charge of culpable homicide.

Prosecutors are seeking a murder conviction after he shot dead his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in 2013.

Director of Media and Publicity of the Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Organisation (PDPPCO), Femi Fani-Kayode has described as baseless and false the claim by Senator Bola Tinubu that the PDP and the Presidency offered him (Tinubu) the position of vice president in an Interim National Government (ING) if he would part company with General Muhammadu Buhari.

The spokesman recalled that the Tinubu Media Office recently said that the PDP and the Presidency tried to fracture the APC by offering Tinubu the position of vice President in an interim government if he would agree to part company with Buhari.

Joachim Low extends his contract as Germany coach until 2018

Joachim Low has extended his contract as coach of Germany until the 2018 World Cup in Russia. The 55-year-old's previous deal with the world champions took him through to Euro 2016 in France.

And Low said he is hungry to win more trophies with the national side. He said: "I said yes with my heart and my head. We feel incredibly good working together and we have shared goals. We were crowned world champions and we want to experience that feeling again."

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has hit back at Sky Sports' Jamie Carragher - claiming he has "a short memory".

Carragher joined Graeme Souness in heavily criticising Chelsea's players during the Champions League last-16 exit to Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday, branding their behavior as "disgraceful".

Nine of Chelsea's outfield players swarmed around the referee following a heavy challenge from Zlatan Ibrahimovic that led to the Swede's sending off - and Carragher said this kind of gamesmanship is a symptom of Mourinho's teams.

Egypt unveils plan to build new capital city

Egypt's new administrative and business city, on the outskirts of Cairo, has been revealed on a new website.

It says the city will house up to five million residents and be built in the corridor between Cairo and the Red Sea. There will be 1.1m housing units and 1.75m permanent jobs.

The city is set to be officially unveiled at an Egyptian government conference at the Red Sea resort of Sharm El-Sheikh, to global investors and politicians.

President Goodluck Jonathan has admitted that he never had a telephone conversation with King Mohammed VI of Morocco as claimed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. 

Jonathan made the clarification on Friday in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati. 

There is currently an ongoing diplomatic row between Nigeria and Morocco over the telephone conversation between the two leaders. 

Russia plans anti-racism event before hosting 2018 World Cup

Russia is planning an international anti-racism summit this year to address the problem before hosting the 2018 World Cup.

The conference follows a report which detailed more than 200 cases of discriminatory behaviour in Russian football in the past two seasons.

South Africans perform first 'successful' penis transplant

The 21-year-old recipient, whose identity is being protected, lost his penis in a botched circumcision.

Doctors in Cape Town said the operation was a success and the patient was happy and healthy. The team said there was extensive discussion about whether the operation, which is not life-saving in the same way as a heart transplant, was ethical.

There have been attempts before, including one in China. Accounts suggested the operation went fine, but the penis was later rejected.

The man was 18 and already sexually active when he had the circumcision. The boy was left with just 1 cm of his original penis.

A pregnant woman and her child were run over by a six-year-old boy who started up an electric car on display in a shopping centre.

The exhibition in the Chinese capital Beijing featured two brand-new Teslas which were on display to the public.

The sales team were explaining some of the finer points of the car when the six-year-old opened the door of the white Tesla and climbed inside, apparently planning to pretend to drive it.

Islamic State 'accepts' Boko Haram's allegiance pledge

Islamic State (IS) has accepted a pledge of allegiance from Nigeria's militant group Boko Haram, according to an audio message.

In the tape, which has not been verified, an IS spokesman says the aim of establishing a caliphate has now been expanded to West Africa.

Zimbabwe expelled from 2018 World Cup

Zimbabwe have been expelled from 2018 World Cup qualifying for failing to pay former coach Jose Claudinei Georgini. 

Football's world governing body Fifa said in a statement  it had taken the action "as a result of the non-payment of an outstanding debt". 

Fifa added that Zimbabwe's Football Association (Zifa) failed to make the payments despite a grace period.

Robbers raid bank, kill three policemen and a girl

Three policemen and a fish seller were killed on Thursday by a gang of robbers who stormed the First City Monument Bank on Admiralty Way in Lekki, Lagos State.

It was learnt that the robbers, numbering 13 arrived the bank wearing military uniform and shooting sporadically for about 30 minutes.

Buhari’s wife vows her husband will empower Nigerian women if elected

Wife of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, yesterday assured Nigerian women of empowerment if her husband, is elected in the forthcoming presidential election.

Mrs. Buhari gave this assurance at an event to commemorate the International Women’s Day at the APC presidential campaign office, in Abuja.

Police are investigating a racist tweet aimed at Danny Welbeck following his winning goal at Old Trafford on Monday night.

The former Manchester United striker scored the decisive goal in a 2-1 win that sent Arsenal through to the last four of the FA Cup.

TMZ has obtained the video of Suge Knight running over 2 men, killing one. It is gruesome, revealing and it will absolutely become the centerpiece of his murder trial.

It was reported that Suge drove to a Tam's Burgers in Compton where Dr. Dre was filming footage connected with the NWA biopic, "Straight Outta Compton." Suge had been kicked out of another location shoot 20 minutes earlier, and he claims he went to the burger joint to make peace with Dre.

Mbeki, Abdulsalami meet Buhari

A former South African President, Thabo Mbeki, and a former Nigerian military Head of State, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar, were in Kaduna on Monday to confer with the All Progressives Congress Presidential candidate, Maj.Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), ahead of the rescheduled March 28 presidential election.

After the closed-door meeting held at the Jabi Road office of the Katsina-born General, neither the visitors nor the APC presidential candidate spoke to journalists that besieged the venue.

After the meeting that lasted for over one hour, Mbeki and Abubakar left for the Kaduna International Airport to catch a flight back to Abuja. Abubakar is also the Chairman of the Peace Accord signed by the two leading presidential candidates, President Goodluck Jonathan and Buhari.

Nigeria FG slashes Works Ministry’s budget from N100bn to N11bn

The Minister of Works, Mike Onolememen, said the ministry’s N100bn proposed budget for 2015 was slashed by the Ministry of Finance to N11bn, representing an 89 per cent slash.

Onolememen, who was in the Senate to defend his ministry’s estimates for the fiscal year, added that no sum was approved for   the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency’s capital projects   and the Office of the Surveyor -General of the Federation.

He said the Finance ministry predicated its action on the economic realities on the ground.

Danny Welbeck sends Gunners into FA Cup semis

Danny Welbeck scored the winner on his return to Old Trafford to give Arsenal a 2-1 victory over Manchester United and book their place in the FA Cup semi-finals.

Nacho Monreal had given the Gunners the lead in the 25th minute but United quickly levelled thanks to Wayne Rooney’s header.

Zinedine Zidane to be next Real boss

Zinedine Zidane is being lined up to be Carlo Ancelotti’s successor as manager at Real Madrid, according to Graham Hunter.

Speaking on Revista de La Liga, Hunter insists the current Real Madrid Castilla boss is the natural choice to take over from the Italian, but not immediately due to lack of experience.

Ancelotti has come under fire in recent weeks after some poor performances since the winter break, with the current European champions now a point behind leaders Barcelona.

“It's not about candidates, it's a candidate,” Hunter said. “The succession plan is Zinedine Zidane. He's in charge of Castilla B. It's a formal plan and everyone knows this to be the case.”

AIT Receives N10 Billion For Damaging Documentaries On Opposition Leaders

African Independent Television (AIT) owners received N10 billion to produce and air negative documentaries on leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), a SaharaReporters investigation shows.

SaharaReporters learnt that the Minister for Petroleum Affairs, Diezani Allison-Madueke is bankrolling the documentary while the scripts and voice overs are being prepared and cut with the help of the Nigeria Television Authority and some Nollywood production companies and working for President Jonathan's re-election.

Zdenek Zeman replaces Gianfranco Zola at Cagliari

Serie A strugglers Cagliari have reappointed Zdenek Zeman as manager following the sacking of Gianfranco Zola with the club looking to stave off relegation from Italy's top flight. 
 
Zeman was himself sacked by Cagliari just before Christmas, but after less than three months on the sidelines the Czech coach is back at the helm with the job of saving the Sardinians from the drop.
