Great-great grandmother goes to school for first time aged 90

This proves it’s never too late to go back to school, even if you’re 90. Priscilla Sitienei decided to enrol in a Kenyan primary school nearly a century after she should have because her family couldn’t afford to send her when she was younger.

The ‘world’s oldest primary school student’ now sits next to her great-great-grandchildren, while learning several subjects, including English and PE.

‘I’d like to be able to read the Bible; I also want to inspire children to get an education,’ Sitienei told the BBC.

‘Too many older children are not in school. They even have children themselves.’

The pensioner has been at Leaders Vision Preparatory School in Kenya’s Rift Valley since 2010 but has only just started attending classes.

Despite not having an education previously, she had managed to have a successful career as a midwife in Ndalat village, where she lives.

She still encourages people to attend school though.
