Jermain Defoe's proposed move from Toronto to Sunderland is
expected to go through on Friday after the player passed his medical.
The 32-year-old only left England for Canada 11 months ago, but he
is understood to have now all but agreed personal terms with Sunderland
after spending Thursday at their training ground.
If the paperwork
is completed in time, Defoe could face his former club Tottenham at the
weekend, with Gus Poyet's side travelling to White Hart Lane on
