Hoodlums set Jonathan campaign vehicle ablaze in Jos

As Nigerians pray for a violence-free elections, some group of hoodlums on Saturday in Jos, Plateau State, descended on a campaign vehicle branded with the poster of President Goodluck Jonathan and set it ablaze.

It was learnt that the hoodlums numbering about 50 waylaid the vehicle at about 6:00 pm at Zololo junction along Bauchi road in Jos North Local Government Area of the state and beat the five occupants blue black before they set the vehicle ablaze.

An eyewitness said that the incident caused pandemonium in the area as people ran for dear lives while an oncoming car, which ran into the scene of the incident was also damaged beyond repair while the occupants were allowed to go unhurt.

It was reliably gathered that the action of the hoodlums could have snowballed into fracas as some staunch supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who witnessed the attack had regrouped for a reprisal but were prevailed upon by some elders in the area and the prompt intervention of the police. ...NigerianTribune
