NBA: Kobe Bryant goes for surgery on Wednesday

The LA Lakers star is likely to miss the rest of the season, for a third consecutive NBA campaign.

Bryant suffered an injury to his right rotator cuff, last Wednesday, in a loss at New Orleans as he was going for a dunk in the third quarter.

The 36-year-old returned for the fourth quarter but he has since been advised to undergo surgery on the shoulder tear.

The LA Lakers announced on Monday that he would undergo surgery and say they will announce a timetable for Bryant's recovery after the procedure, this Wednesday, but coach Byron Scott believes Bryant "is probably not going to play" again this season.
