Jonathan says Nigeria’s next president must be below 50

President Goodluck Jonathan Tuesday declared in Lafia, the capital of Nasarrawa State that his possible successor would be younger than him.

Jonathan, 57 said made this affirmation in Lafia as part of his ongoing second term campaign.

This declaration has, therefore, ruled out the possibility of the Vice President, Namadi Sambo, 60 and the Senate President, David Mark, 66 in succeeding him.

Addressing the mammoth crowd that came out to welcome him, President Jonathan said his administration believed in the youth and would do everything possible to support the younger generation.

“Obasanjo was president at 70, Yar’Adua at 60 and me close to 60; so the next president must be younger than me”, President Jonathan said.

Jonathan told the crowd that the PDP administration would invest in the younger generation and ensure that a space was made available for them in the future.
