CAN youth blast Jonathan, call for State Of Emergency in Nigeria

The Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria, YOWICAN, has called on the federal government to declare a State of Emergency on security in Nigeria.

Addressing journalists in Lafia, the chairman, North-Central zone of YOWICAN, Daniel Kazai, said the declaration will help put an end to the incessant killing of innocent Nigerians.

Mr. Kazai berated President Goodluck Jonathan for abandoning his duty to concentrate on electioneering campaigns while Boko Haram insurgents kill hundreds of Nigerians.

He said that the Federal Government is not doing enough towards ending the insurgency and other criminal activities in parts of the country.

He said that until peace is restored to places such as Adamawa, Yobe, Borno and some parts of Taraba, Nasarawa and Plateau states, the 2015 general elections may not hold as the affected places are not safe for the exercise.

He said Boko Haram, rather than the government, should have announced the ceasefire since they are the ones at war with the government of Nigeria. ...PremiumTimes
