Champions League: Nine-man Manchester City beaten 2-1 by CSKA Moscow

A Seydou Doumbia double inspired CSKA Moscow to a 2-1 victory at the Etihad and dealt a deadly blow to Manchester City's European aspirations in a game marred by two red cards for the hosts.
Doumbia's second-minute and 33rd-minute strikes, either side of a sumptuous equaliser from Yaya Toure, handed the Russians the points in what was a must-win game for City whose future in the competition hangs by a thread.

It took the visitors just moments to break the deadlock, with Doumbia shaking off his marker – Toure – to head past Joe Hart from close range and silence the home crowd.

City, rallied by going behind, went in pursuit of an equaliser which they got just five minutes later, with Toure expertly firing past Akinfeev in the CSKA goal with a free kick after Jovetic was fouled.

The visitors, however, weren't finished. Doumbia grabbed his second after Gael Clichy's hacked clearance found Musa, who in turn played in his strike partner to fire low past Hart at his near post.
The game's major turning points came in the second half, when half-time substitute Fernandinho picked up two yellow cards in quick succession to leave City with a mountain to climb -  the latter being after an innocuous challenge involving Musa.
Toure compounded City's misery, seeing red for petulantly lashing out on Eremanko to all but end his side's chances.

City now find themselves on the brink of Champions League elimination at the group stage for the third time in four seasons, and are now reliant on other results to ensure progression to the knock-out stage. ...SkySports
