Security personnel battled for several hours yesterday in Ilorin to control the huge crowd of supporters who trooped out to receive the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s presidential campaign train in the Kwara State capital.

At the Ilorin International Airport, the streets and the Metropolitan Square, venue of the campaign, the crowd sang, danced and waved their broom as the party’s flagbearer, General Muhammadu Buhari, his running mate Professor Yemi Osinbajo, the APC national Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, national leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Governors Abdulfatah Ahmed (Kwara), Rauf Aregbesola (Osun) and Chibuike Amaechi (Rivers) and former governor of Kwara, Senator Bukola Saraki drove past.

Although the plane carrying Gen. Buhari and his team landed at the airport at 10:40 am, it took them almost two hours to reach the palace of the Emir of Ilorin a distance of less than five kilometers.

From the emir’s palace, the APC leaders moved to the Metropolitan Square at about 1.35 pm, throwing the arena into frenzy with the crowd hailing Buhari.

Gen Buhari told the party supporters that there was so much desperation in the PDP camp to win the election and urged the people not to allow the party have its way.

Every vote for PDP, he said, amount to ruining the future of the country and coming generations. ...OsunDefender
