Chelsea extend Premier League lead with 2-1 win as City draws

Branislav Ivanovic scored a stunning winner as Chelsea battled to a 2-1 win at Aston Villa to extend their lead at the top.

Eden Hazard slotted home a sweeping move from the visitors before Jores Okore headed in shortly after half time to score Aston Villa’s first Premier League goal in nearly 11 hours, but Ivanovic’s thunderbolt sealed the points for the visitors.

With Chelsea winning 2-1 at Aston Villa, Man City who drew are now seven points behind the Premier League leaders and their hopes of defending their title look slim.

Man City started sluggishly at the Etihad and fell behind in the 34th minute when Gaston Ramirez’s effort hit the post and David Meyler converted the rebound.

It looked as though that goal might be enough to give Hull a first-ever league win at Man City but Milner's superb last-gasp free-kick snatched a point for the champions, who have now not won for five successive matches.
