Suspect arrested and charged over death of South Africa captain Senzo Meyiwa

A man has been arrested and charged with the murder of South Africa football captain Senzo Meyiwa.

The 25-year-old appeared in court in Johannesburg on Friday charged with 'murder and armed robbery' following the death of Meyiwa last weekend.
He was remanded in custody by Boksburg Magistrates Court until November 11 to allow him time to apply for legal aid.
Meyiwa, who was 27, was gunned down last Sunday by an intruder while visiting his girlfriend some 30 kilometres south of Johannesburg.
On Thursday, police denied reports that they had arrested two people linked to the murder.
Meyiwa will be buried on Saturday in his hometown of Umlazi on the outskirts of the eastern coastal city of Durban.
Goalkeeper Meyiwa, who plays for Orlando Pirates, made his international debut in June 2013 when South Africa beat Lesotho 2-1.
He made three appearances in qualifying matches for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, the most recent being a goalless draw against Congo.
