Lawmaker sacks wife for contesting his seat

The 2015 general election might have claimed its first “family” victim, as a serving member of the Bayelsa House of Assembly, Hon. Ebamugha Empere has thrown out his wife for daring to contest for the same ticket against him on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Empere, representing Sagbama 3 constituency, is a two term member of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly and is hoping to go for a third term.
According to sources, the lawmaker threw his wife, Tare, out of their flat at the New Assembly Quarters, Aziko, Yenogoa on Tuesday evening after getting wind of her ambition.
Tare, sources say is from the same Agbere community in Sagabma Local Government Area of the state and she was said to have kept her political ambition away from her husband who is occupying the same seat she is eyeing.
Empere is accusing her of joining his opponents to challenge him in the forthcoming election.
Tare was said to have submitted her expression of interest and nomination forms on Tuesday at the state secretariat of the party in Yenagoa few days after collecting same.
According to sources, Empere ordered his aides to throw her things out of the quarter’s gate when he heard of the moves being made by his wife. Tare, out of anger was said to have gotten the aides arrested for helping her husband evacuate her from the house.
The Bayelsa State Police Command spokesman however denied knowledge of the incident when contacted for confirmation. ...DailyPost
