Steven Naismith was the unlikely hero as he struck back with a fine header to slow Manchester City's title charge.
The
Scotland international stole brilliantly in front of Joe Hart to turn
produce a clever finish from Leighton Baines' brilliant free kick on 78
minutes, just as it seemed the visitors had broken Goodison hearts.
City
were dominant for much of this enthralling, wind-lashed game, with
David Silva running the home side ragged, especially in the first half.
But they failed to score and allowed their opponents back into the
contest, with Romelu Lukaku twice being denied by Hart, who looked in
fine form.
But with Everton growing in confidence, City capitalised on some good
fortune when Samir Nasri seemed to cross from an offside position. Even
then, Silva's shot was mis-hit, but it allowed Fernandinho to send home
a header that crept past Seamus Coleman on the line.
Everton boss
Roberto Martinez was incensed claiming Nasri was offside, but he got
justice of sorts four minutes later when City were surprisingly exposed
at the free kick, as Naismith was left unmarked, and Hart allowed the
striker to steal in front of him.
The result sees the defending champions lose ground on league leaders Chelsea, who are two points ahead. ...DailyMirror
