PDP leaders afraid of promoting Jonathan in Kano — Kwankwaso

The governor of Kano State, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has said that members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state are afraid to promote President Goodluck Jonathan as the party’s presidential candidate, terrified that the president has failed Nigerians.
Mr. Kwankwaso said while PDP leaders in the state have shielded away from identifying with the party’s presidential candidate, the All Progressives Congress, APC, has gained wider support with its choice of Muhammadu Buhari as its presidential candidate.

Mr. Kwankwaso referred to Mr. Buhari, himself as Kano Central Senatorial candidate, and the state APC gubernatorial candidate, Abdullahi Ganduje, as easily sellable political personalities.
The governor was speaking at the government house where some APC members from Dawakin Tofa local government area thanked him for the selection of their son, Mr. Ganduje, who is the deputy governor, as the party’s governorship candidate in the forthcoming election.
Mr. Kwankwaso explained that Mr. Ganduje was chosen based on the deputy governor’s merit and loyalty to the party and the Kwankwasiyya Movement.
He said only those loyal to the APC and his Kwankwasiyya Movement are eligible for political posts.
The governor also said the party would not succumb to blackmail or people seeking favours behind doors. ...PremiumTimes
