Andy Murray and Heather Watson were beaten 2-1 by Poland in their second match at the Hopman Cup in Perth.
Watson was crushed 6-3 6-1 by Agnieszka Radwanska in the opening
singles, but Murray levelled it up by beating Jerzy Janowicz 6-2 6-3.
Watson broke Radwanska in the opening game but the world No 5 broke
straight back and then won against the serve again in the fourth to move
3-1 up.
The Briton was then unable to find another break as she
surrendered the first set and then lost serve in the opening game of the
second set.
The 22-year-old did then manage to break back to
level it at 1-1 but that would be the last game she won as Radwanska
eased to victory in just 65 minutes to put the Poles ahead.
Murray,
who had hurt his shoulder during his triumph in Abu Dhabi last
week, also lost his opening service game as Janowicz moved into a 2-0
lead, but the Scot then reeled off nine games in a row to take control
before closing out the win.
The world No 6 could not take that
momentum into the doubles, though, as he and Watson, who had won their
first match against France on Monday, lost in straight sets to Radwanska
and Janowicz.
Murray said: "I moved well and served good and got a lot of returns back and play so I was happy.
"My shoulder felt much better today. As I'm playing the matches, it's starting to feel a little bit better." ...SkySports
