Seventh seed Stan Wawrinka was shocked at the Miami Open on Sunday with a straight sets defeat by Frenchman Adrian Mannarino.
The 26-year-old Mannarino is at the top of his game right
now, reaching his second straight ATP World Tour Masters 1000 fourth
round, but few would have expected this 7-6 (7-4) 7-6 (7-5) victory
against the eighth seed.
Mannarino, a finalist at the Heineken
Open in Auckland to open the season, is now on the verge of a
career-high spot in the world's top 30 having been out of the top 100
only eight months ago.
