Rhodri Giggs has told how his footballer brother's affair with his wife "demolished" his family.

Speaking for the first time on television, the Manchester United ace’s younger sibling said Ryan’s eight-year relationship with his wife Natasha ripped apart their relationship.

The brothers have not spoken in the three years since Ryan’s affair with Natasha was uncovered and Rhodri, who is also a footballer, revealed the shocking way in which he found out about the betrayal.

The dad-of-two said: “Natasha had done a disappearing act one day, I’d been playing football at Old Trafford, came home and fallen asleep early and woke up at 3am and she wasn’t home."

“At 6am her mum knocked on the door with a paper and a letter. That’s how I found out, from reading the News of the World with her mum sitting next to me."

“I phoned him saying, ‘Is it true?” but he denied it. I didn’t know what to believe."

“You’ve got two people here you supposedly trust and you want to believe both of them."

“But Natasha showed me texts, pictures Ryan had sent of himself. Messages that I sent on to him."

“He told me ‘it meant nothing, it was just sex’. He’d demolished my family over sex."

“Well done, cheers bro.”

The story of Ryan and Natasha’s relationship broke after Welsh model and Big Brother contestant Imogen Thomas spoke out about her liaisons with the now Manchester United assistant manager.

The ex-Welsh international had taken out a gagging order on newspapers to prevent his name being revealed and took legal action against Twitter for the publication of a list of identities of individuals who had allegedly taken out so-called ‘super-injunctions’.

His identity was revealed freely on social media before one Scottish newspaper carried it as their front page story.

A heartbroken Rhodri, who had become suspicious about his wife’s actions when he discovered texts on her phone, attempted to keep his family together.

“I wanted to keep my family together because what destroyed me, what made me so angry in my life is when my father left. And I didn’t want that with my kids."

“It was difficult, I did want to stay in that family, but it just wasn’t going to work.”

“We were inseparable when we were kids. The closest a family could be. We did everything together. I worshipped the ground he walked on."

“Things changed when my father left. Ryan was 14 or 15 and wanted to go out with his friends, then he found a replacement father figure in Sir Alex Ferguson. And I had no one.”

After some time spent in jail and a troublesome few years, Rhodri met and married Natasha.

The pair tied the knot in 2010 in Las Vegas and threw a wedding reception on their return to the UK, but even then brother Ryan did not attend the celebration.

Natasha filed for divorce in 2013 after appearing on Celebrity Big Brother. She gave birth to a little boy, her third son, last April, with new partner Mike Smith.

“I haven’t spoken to him since it happened. I don’t care about an apology I just want to get on with my life. That cloud will be over his head and her head. My conscious is very clear.”
