Man fighting for life after being shot in face wrestling loaded gun away from toddler

Patrick Sanders, 20, was hit as he tried to take the weapon away from the child in Houston, Texas

A man has been left fighting for his life after he tried to wrestle a loaded gun away from a
toddler before being shot in the face.

Patrick Sanders, 20, from Houston, Texas, had fallen asleep on the sofa when the firearm
fell from his pocket and on to the floor.
As the three-year-old boy went to pick up the gun, Sanders awoke.
He then tried to take the weapon off the child but as he did it went off in his face.
"At that time, the gun went off and Sanders was shot in the face," Houston Police said.
"The child was not injured.
The incident took place on Saturday shortly after 8.30am.
Investigators say it isn't clear if the child had his finger on the trigger or if Sanders hit itas he lunged for the gun.
They are classing the incident as accidental and the investigation continues.
Sanders was taken to Ben Taub General Hospital where he remained in critical condition. ...Mirror
