Gunmen kill expatriate, abduct another in Ogun


Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers on Friday reportedly killed a man suspected to be a German construction worker while his colleague was abducted in Sagamu while on their way to Ogbere in Ijebu East Local Government area of Ogun State.


They were said to be on their way to their quarry site when the incident occurred, and were believed to be workers with the German construction company,Julius Berger.

The deputy police spokesman for the state, Mr. Abimbola  Oyeyemi, an assistant superintendent of police, confirmed the incident, stressing that the police were on the trail of the abductors.

He said, “The hoodlums laid siege to the expatriates on the way to their quarry site. They hid in the bush. And as soon as they sited their vehicle coming they opened fire on them.

“One of the expatriates was hit by the bullet, in the process his colleague was also abducted. The one that was hit by the bullet was rushed to the hospital, where he later died.”

Another source said that the driver of the vehicle in which the Germans were travelling in, was trying to make a U-turn when they suddenly ran into the abductors, and they fired bullets at the car.
