A former Head of State and elder
statesman, Gen. Yakubu Gowon, has expressed confidence in the ability of
the coming administration of Muhammadu Buhari to restore the lost glory
of education in the country.
Gowon stated this on Saturday at the
official commissioning of Bogoro Community Study Centre of the National
Open University of Nigeria, located in Bogoro, Bogoro Local Government
Area of Bauchi State.
The BCSC, built by the Tertiary Education
Trust Fund in collaboration with NOUN, is the 9th Community Study
Centre in the country, bringing the number of NOUN study centres
nationwide to 63.
Gowon, who was the Chairman of the
occasion, commended interventions by the Jonathan-led administration. He
also called for an immediate overhaul of the Education sector in the
country by the incoming government.
