Liverpool get James Milner as he snubs Arsenal on free transfer
James Milner will quit Manchester City to join Liverpool on a free transfer. Milner is ready to choose Liverpool over Arsenal,
despite the Reds failure to make the Champions League, because he
believes he will have more opportunities to play his favourite central
midfield role.
Although the England international - who is out of
contract at the end of the season - cannot officially decide his future
until after next Sunday’s final game, it is understood he wants to sign
for Liverpool.
Burundi President Regains Control Of The Country
The Burundi President, Pierre Nkurunziza, has returned to the country
and regained control after a failed coup, according to reports.
The attempted coup on May 13 coincided with President Nkurunziza’s meeting with East African heads of state in Tanzania.
According to the latest reports the coup ringleader, Major General
Godefroid Niyombare, is currently at large. However, his two co-plotters
have been arrested by military loyal to President Nkurunziza, including
Defence Minister Cyrille Ndayirukiye, Security Minister Gabriel
Nizigama.

For allegedly helping their father plunder Nigeria of
an estimated $5 billion in the 1990s, Mohammed and Abba Abacha, and
other relatives of the late dictator, Sani Abacha, have been rewarded by
the Nigerian government.
A secret deal between the government and the Abachas, wants the
family to return part of the loot, in exchange for perpetual immunity
against prosecution.
The deal, kept classified for months, was personally approved by
President Goodluck Jonathan in July 2014, and jointly authored by the
Attorney General, Mohammed Adoke.
Justin Gatlin serves notice to Bolt after clocking 9.74 seconds in Doha
American Justin Gatlin stormed to victory at
the Diamond League opener in Doha on Friday winning the 100m to serve
notice to Usain Bolt ahead of the world athletics championships in
Beijing in August.
The 33-year-old Gatlin, who has served two
doping bans, clocked 9.74 seconds - a world best for this year - making
him the fifth fastest man ever.
Gatlin bettered his best mark of 9.77 which he achieved in Brussels last September.
Mo Farah beaten in Doha
Double Olympic champion Mo Farah was beaten
into second place in the 3,000 metres by Hagos Gebrhiwet at the Diamond
League opener in Doha on Friday.
The Ethiopian was cheered on by a number of his countrymen in a large and loud Doha crowd.
In a close race, Farah just failed to take first place despite battling back from fourth as he came into the final bend.
Boko Haram recaptures Marte in Borno
The Boko Haram terrorist group on Friday recaptured Marte, a border town in the northern part of Borno State.
Security sources said members of the terrorist group, who fled Sambisa forest, had now regrouped in Marte.

Zannah Mustapha, also confirmed the recapture of the town by Boko Haram
terrorists during a press conference in Maiduguri.

Over 15 ex-governors won senate seats in
the March 28 election with many of them having cases of corruption
ranging from misappropriation of public funds to money laundering
hanging over their necks.

Roger Federer remained on course for a
semi-final clash with Rafael Nadal at the Rome Masters after beating
Tomas Berdych 6-3 6-3.
Federer has made the final in Rome three times in the past 12
years but been beaten on every occasion - twice by Nadal and once by
Felix Mantilla, in 2003.
The 33-year-old could now meet seven-time
champion Nadal in the last four if the Spaniard overcomes Swiss player
Stan Wawrinka in their semi-final later on today.

confided in each other while she was going through a messy divorce and
her family accepted the relationship, despite her ending up in jail
because of it.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal says
he has achieved his goal for the season by guiding his side into a top
four position in the Premier League.
However, the Dutchman admits that overcoming numerous
injuries has been the toughest challenge he has faced during his first
campaign at Old Trafford.
Looking back on his first campaign in England’s top flight, the
63-year-old said: “We sat together, myself and the board, and set the
goal, which was to finish in the first four.”
IS seizes Iraqi city stronghold
Islamic State militants have seized the main government building in Ramadi, the capital of Iraq's largest province.
As
many as six suicide car bombs and mortars were used in the assault on
the compound that houses the main police HQ and governor's office. At least 50 police officers are reported to have been taken prisoner at the site.
Burundi arrests three in connection with coup attempt
Loyalist troops in Burundi have arrested at least three leaders of a
failed coup against President Pierre Nkurunziza, a presidential
spokesman said.
Gervais Abayeho said those arrested on Friday
were two army generals, including former Defence Minister Cyrille
Ndayirukiye, and a police general.
Major-General Godefroid Niyombare, who led the coup attempt, was
"still on the run, his whereabouts are not known to us", Abehayo told
the Reuters news agency.

Nigeria loses 1,800 MW in one month – Perm sec
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Power, Ambassador Godknows
Igali, said on Thursday that Nigeria had lost 1,800 MegaWatts of
electricity in the last one month.
Igali, who stated this at a meeting between his ministry and the
Senate Committee on Power, Steel Development and Metallurgy, in Abuja,
also attributed the deteriorating outage in the country to activities of
vandals.
