Nigerian soldiers roll out tanks in Damboa, kill 82 insurgents

NIGERIAN military, on Sunday night resisted an attempt by the Islamic sect, Boko Haram, to capture Damboa, as men of the military, in conjunction with local vigilantes, popularly called Civilian JTF, repelled their attacks, killing not less than 82 of the Boko Haram fighters.

According to Isa Adamu, a member of the team, the battle took place on Sunday evening, when some of the insurgents being pursued by the Cameroon military from Gwoza axis, following the fall of their caliphate in Gwoza, made an inroad to Damboa, with a determination to retake the town.

Members of the sect met a strong opposition as the Nigerian military fought gallantly to repel them, a development that caused the fighters not less than 82 men.

He said the civilian JTF members were going to Damboa to give support to the people as usual and to give support to those in Damboa who are supporting the military.
