Wayne Rooney is disappointed a video of him
"knocked out" while boxing with former team-mate Phil Bardsley was
attained by the media.
Rooney, who responded by celebrating with a boxing move and
'KO' after scoring in Manchester United's 3-0 home win over Tottenham on
Sunday, insists the incident should have remained private.
"That's the world we live in today I think. It was a few mates in a
private house which has somehow managed to go front page of a national
newspaper. It's private, in my own home, although it's got out. It's what friends do, they mess around in the house", said Rooney.
"Unfortunately it's made the front page of the newspaper, so you have to just deal with that."
"I have to accept that, but it was me and a few friends joking around," added the England striker.
"I've been focused on the game, I think it's more interesting for other people rather than myself. I think you can see today I've done a professional job, got on with the game, and gladly helped us win 3-0."
