Schalke's president has revealed the club have
opened talks with Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira over a possible
summer transfer.
Germany international Khedira, who has been beset with injury
problems this season, is out of contract at the end of June and
expected to leave the Bernabeu on a free.
The 27-year-old has been
a reported target for Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United, but it
appears as though the Bundesliga club are winning the race to land him.
Club president Clemens Tonnies claims that initial discussions are underway to bring Khedira to Gelsenkirchen.
He told German newspaper Bild: "There have been initial talks. We believe that a fit-again Khedira would help us."
