Paddy Power 'stumps up £50,000 charity prize' for Wayne Rooney to have 'rematch' with Phil Bardsley

Bookies Paddy Power have reportedly stumped up a £50,000 prize for a charity rematch between Premier League pugilists Wayne Rooney and Phil Bardsley.

The firm even wants to televise the blockbuster boxing bout at Manchester United's Theatre of Dreams, Old Trafford.

The offer comes after a video emerged of Stoke City's Phil, 25, apparently knocking out Wayne, 29, with a swift left jab in a jokey kitchen punch-up, reports the Daily Star.

"Punters have been going crazy for the re-match, and there’s no doubt it could be as big as Froch versus Groves 2," Paddy Power said.

"After seeing Roo go down like Moyes' career at United in the first one, we're offering 6-1 for history to repeat itself with a Bardsley KO."

"Forget Mayweather versus Pacquiao, this is the fight everyone is talking about – and it's for charity. C'mon lads."

The Irish bookie has given odds of 18-1 for Rooney to be KO'd in the first round.
