Fulanis strike, attack farmers in Jigawa

FULANI herdsmen struck and attacked dozens of farmers at some villages in Guri local government area of Jigawa state.

Reports from the area indicated that the farmers were in their farms, harvesting farm produce such as beans, sorghum etc when the Fulani herdsmen trespassed into their farmland with thousands of cows and sheep to graze their farm produce.
Efforts by the farmers to stop and send the animals out of their farms angered the Fulanis, who violently retaliated by shooting at the farmers with bow and arrow injuring many farmers and ran away.
The local council Chairman of Guri local government, Alhaji Haruna Dauda, confirmed the incident, said about nine farmers who were injured and were taken to the hospital for medical attention.
