Zlatan Ibrahimovic given four-match ban for "s*** country" rant

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been handed a four-match ban by the French Football Association. The Swedish star launched an explosive foul-mouthed rant against referee Lionel Jaffredo following Paris Saint-Germain's 3-2 defeat to Bordeaux last month.

He said: "In 15 years I’ve never seen a (good) referee in this s*** country ... (they) don’t even deserve PSG. “Wake up, wake up... we’re not amateurs. F****** a******."

The former Barcelona and AC Milan star apologised for remarks he was heard saying in Canal Plus TV footage, comments that prompted French sports minister Patrick Kanner to get involved.

However, that has not appeased the LFP, with the PSG hitman now set to sit out his side's next four games.

It comes just a day after he notched his 100th goal for the club in their Coupe de France win over Saint-Etienne, going on to bag a hat-trick in the 4-1 victory.

The ban has been handed at a pivotal time in the Ligue 1 season, as Laurent Blanc's men go in search of their third successive title.

They are currently one point ahead of Lyon with seven games to go, but must now do without their talismanic striker, starting with next weekend's trip to Nice.

Ibrahimovic will also sit out the upcoming Champions League quarter-final against Barcelona, following his dismissal in the previous round success over Chelsea.
