Chelsea fans in new train racism row after Capital One final

Police are investigating fresh claims of alleged racism by Chelsea fans on a train after the Capital One final yesterday.

British Transport Police met the train at Stoke-on-Trent after being called to reported incidents of abusive behaviour and racist insults on board the London to Manchester train.

The alleged incident on the Virgin Trains service last night came after the west London side had beaten Tottenham 2-0 at Wembley in the Capital One Cup final.

The BTP officers, alongside the local Staffordshire Police, asked four men to leave the train. Four others are said to have left of their own accord.

This latest incident follows an alleged racist incident on the Paris Metro last month.

One witness, a passenger on the train, told the Daily Mail that the offenders were singing songs about Auschwitz, as well as making racist comments towards two young Asian girls.

"It was horrendous. They were Chelsea fans and they were being nasty and offensive. One passenger, a black man, moved carriages because he was disgusted with them."

"One girl was crying. The police got on and marched them off the train."

A Chelsea spokesman said: "We are aware of the reports but it is not clear at this time if this incident involves Chelsea supporters. If it did then we will assist the British Transport Police with their inquiries."
