The All Progressives Congress on Monday
threatened to slam a lawsuit on Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, spokesman for
the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan, and the Peoples
Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Organisation following their
claim of an oath-taking pact between Prof. Yemi Osinbajo and Asiwaju
Bola Tinubu.
The APC said it would commence legal
proceedings unless the PDP presidential campaign body and its
spokesperson produced evidence to support their claim.
Fani-Kayode had reportedly claimed that
Osinbajo, the APC vice-presidential candidate, and Tinubu had sworn to
an oath that the former would resign for the latter to take over as vice
president if the APC candidate, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) wins
the presidential election.
The threat to sue was contained in a
statement by the Director, Media and Publicity of the APC Presidential
Campaign Organisation, Malam Garba Shehu.
The APC campaign warned the PDP and
Fani-Kayode to either show evidence of the oath-taking or retract the
libellous claim within 72 hours or be ready to be charged to a court of
law.
