Raheem Sterling has shelved contract talks until the end of the season. The 20-year-old forward has told Liverpool he wants to concentrate on helping them finish as high in the Premier League as possible and on their FA Cup run.
But it will be a major concern for the club who were hoping to tie him down to a long term deal in the next few weeks.
Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are watching developments on Sterling whose current £35,000-a-week deal expires in 2017.
England star Sterling is one of the best prospects in Europe and Real
Madrid may be ready to move this summer if they feel they can get him.
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers
has claimed the club have made Sterling an “incredible deal” - believed
to be around £100,000-a-week - but they are no closer to reaching an
agreement.
Rodgers has described Sterling as the best young player in Europe and is under pressure to keep Liverpool’s prize asset.
