Kanye West seemed in good spirits. The Yeezus performer had reunited earlier in the evening with his onetime nemesis Taylor Swift, even going so far as posing for a photo with the pop songstress. Then, when Beck won, Kanye made a beeline for the stage to seemingly reenact his snafu at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards when he crashed Swift’s Best Female Video win with the now-classic line, Ima let you finish, but…, before seguing into a speech championing Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies” over Swift.

As Kanye marched toward the stage, a look of horror spread over pal Jay Z. But it was all for naught. He got halfway there only to march back to his seat sporting a big ol’ smile on his face. Well-played, ‘Ye.

NFF to decide Keshi’s fate on Tuesday

The Technical Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation, (NFF) will hold a meeting on Tuesday to discuss the future of the embattled Super Eagles handler among other issues

The committee will meet in Abuja to discuss issues relating to the future of the Super Eagles’ technical crew among others pertinent issues.

The Vice Chairman of the NFF’s Technical and Development Committee, Alhaji Ahmed Yusuf Fresh told Goal that the committee has a lot of issues to address but the most pressing of them is the fate of the senior national team handler.

Nigeria 2015 Polls: By May 29, I’ll leave office if not re-elected – Jonathan

President Goodluck Jonathan has urged Nigerians to accept the postponement of the general elections in “good faith.” 

The president, in a statement by his spokesperson, Reuben Abati, on Sunday also said he holds the May 29, 2015 handover date sacrosanct and remains committed to leaving office if he is not re-elected. 

The statement reads: “Following the adjustment of the dates for the 2015 general elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from February 14 and 28 to March 28 and April 11, on Saturday, President Goodluck Jonathan has reassured the nation of his commitment to the sanctity of May 29, 2015 as the terminal date of his first term in office. He strongly reaffirms that May 29 is, has been, and will remain sacrosanct.”

Buhari says he won’t concede defeat to Jonathan, because he won’t lose

Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, General Muhammadu Buhari on Friday refused to disclose whether he will concede defeat should he be floored in this year’s presidential election, asserting instead that the election is his to win.

Buhari, who refused to answer the question thrown at him in the course of an interview with AFP news agency, expressed optimism that his fourth attempt in the presidential race would not end like the previous ones. The former Head of state has been vying for the nation’s plum job since 2003, but he had always emerged the runner-up in all three instances.

Nigeria 2015 Polls: Elections postponement was necessary to avoid anarchy and chaos – David Mark

Senate President David Mark on Sunday took to calm the fears and tension trailing the conduct of the the 2015 general elections and urged Nigerians to put the country first before any partisan consideration. 

Senator Mark said in a statement in Abuja following the postponement of the elections that no matter the political divide, ” we all must take the path of caution in order not to jeopardize the process towards a successful exercise in the Nigerian project”.

Poll shift divides federal lawmakers

Members of the House of Representatives were sharply divided on Sunday over the decision of the Independent National Electoral Commission to shift the general elections by six weeks, beginning from March 28.

Anger was the word in the camp of the caucus of the All Progressives Congress as they did not only oppose the shift of the elections but also accused INEC of being a puppet in the hands of the Presidency.

Jonathan’s campaign billboard burnt in Abuja

A campaign billboard of the Peoples Democratic Party bearing the photograph of President Goodluck Jonathan was set ablaze in the early hours of Saturday by an unidentified man.

The incident was said to have taken place following earlier rumours that the Independent National Electoral Commission had postponed the February 14, 2015 Presidential election.

AFCON 2015: Ivory Coast win African Cup of Nations

Goalkeeper Boubacar Barry saved and scored the crucial spot-kicks that handed Ivory Coast a dramatic 9-8 penalty shootout win over Ghana in the Africa Cup of Nations final. 

Barry, who appeared to cramp up during the shootout, denied fellow keeper Brimah Razak - one of five efforts missed - before slotting in the winner. 

Victory gave the Ivorians their second title, in a repeat of the 1992 final. That year, Ivory Coast won 11-10 on penalties also after a goalless draw. 

The Frenchman, Coach Herve Renard's success as coach of the Elephants makes him the first man to win the title with two countries.

The United States Secretary of State, Mr. John Kerry, has expressed disappointment over the postponement of the Nigeria’s general elections.

According to Kerry,“The United States is deeply disappointed by the decision to postpone Nigeria’s presidential election, which had been scheduled for February 14.”

A sex tape of a Manchester United player making out in a club toilet went viral among team-mates

 

A Manchester United player was filmed by team-mates as he and a woman were involved in an 'intimate sex act' in the toilets of a club, with the video then being passed around team-mates, it was alleged today. 

The Sun on Sunday claim the club is investigating following the alleged incident in which a women in her 20s performed a sex act on an un-named player. It's alleged that some of the player's Manchester United team-mates filmed the incident by putting camera phones over and under the cubicle door.

Louis van Gaal said he personally “thanked” his Manchester United players for their second-half performance in the 1-1 draw at West Ham.

The popular pastor was said to have kept mum on the identity of his future wife after he announced his wedding date recently.

The bride’s entourage was dressed in turquiose on yellow while the groom’s was decked in purple and lilac. The cake was designed by Dr. Tayo Adeniji of Buttercups.

The couple held their traditional engagement ceremony at the Inclover Event Centre, Lagos on Friday and it attracted quite a number of dignitaries such as the founder of Sahara Oil, Tonye Cole; Fela Durotoye and many more.

RCCG General Overseer, Pst. Adeboye reacts to allegation of N6bn giving to pastors by PDP

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has warned that pastors collecting bribes from politicians risk the wrath of God.

The renowned cleric said this on his official Facebook page last week, while reacting to allegations by the Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had bribed some pastors with N6bn to work against the All Progressives Congress.

Adeboye said, “I read in the newspaper that one of the serving governors in Nigeria said that some pastors in Nigeria collected N6bn from politicians for the purpose of influencing their members to vote a certain candidate in the coming elections.”

DR Congo win trouble-free third place play-off

DR Congo beat Equatorial Guinea 4-2 on penalties in the Africa Cup of Nations third-place play-off as the match passed without any crowd trouble. 

The hosts' semi-final against Ghana on Thursday was halted after missiles were thrown at players and supporters.

AFCON 2015: FIFA president Sepp Blatter slams media coverage

FIFA president Sepp Blatter has accused the media of dramatising the crowd violence during Thursday's African Nations Cup semi-final.

Blatter, standing for a fifth presidential term in May's elections, told the Guardian: "Good news is no news, bad news is news. We only talk about the bad. Football - which is such a good thing - let it live, leave it in peace, it's well organised, let them do it."

"I don't see the negative side of African football that the media presents. It's normal, we criticise what's good, never what's bad. The unhappy role of the media is to assume and to forecast."

RCCG General Overseer, Pst. Adeboye prays for Jonathan and Osinbajo

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has, at the wee hours of Saturday, prayed for the Vice Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Pastor (Professor) Yemi Osinbajo, Senator Oluremi Tinubu and other candidates.

While making sure that the people who came out were actually candidates for the coming elections, Adeboye, fondly called Daddy GO, invited them to kneel down before the altar and asked the mammoth congregation to pray for them. 

The APC’s Vice Presidential candidate, Professor  Osinbajo, who is a provincial pastor in the mission, was the first to match forward to the altar with a rowsy applause from the congregation, while he was closely followed behind by the wife of former governor of Lagos State, Senator Bola Tinubu.

Female inmates escape in jail break after male guards were seduced

Twenty-eight inmates escaped from a Brazilian jail after three women in fantasy police costumes "seduced" prison wardens, it was reported yesterday.

Police found three wardens naked and handcuffed inside the Nova Mutum public jail, near Cuiaba, central Brazil, the morning after the mass break-out.

The women reportedly drugged the prison guards by giving them spiked whisky after convincing them to take part in an orgy, according to investigators.

Election shift “highly provocative” – APC

The All Progressives Congress, APC, has just heard over the news media that The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has decided to postpone the elections by six weeks on the strength of a letter by the security chiefs that they cannot provide security for the elections nationwide because of the commitment of its resources to fight insurgency in the north eastern part of the country.

This is clearly a major setback for Nigerian democracy, and our Party is meeting in emergency session to study its implications and will inform Nigerians of its decisions in the next few days.

Los Angeles County sheriff’s officials said on Saturday the former Olympian Bruce Jenner was in one of the cars involved in a three-vehicle crash on Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu that killed one person.

Sergeant Matt Dunn said the crash happened shortly after noon, near Corral Canyon Road. City News Service reported that as many as seven people may have been injured.

The Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Organisation (PDPPCO) has welcomed the postponement of elections as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Saturday.

“It is in the best interest of deepening democracy and in the national interest,” the party said in a statement.

Nigeria 2015 Polls: INEC postpones 2015 general elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission has announced a shift in the 2015 general election earlier scheduled for February 14 and 28.

Announcing the postponement at a press conference in Abuja on Saturday night, the chairman of the Commission, Attahiru Jega, said the presidential and national assembly elections will now hold on March 28 while the governorship and state assemblies election will take place on April 11.

Mr. Jega said the elections have to be postponed after the nation’s security agencies indicated to the commission that they were not available to support the elections planned for February 14 and 28.

The INEC chairman said security operatives agencies told INEC that they were commencing a six-week special operation against Boko Haram insurgents in the north eastern corridors of the country and would rather not be distracted by the elections.

Mr. Jega announced that the security forces also said the operations are due to commence on February 14, the date INEC had planned for the presidential and federal legislative elections. This decision by the security forces, he said rendered INEC’s readiness and hitherto insistence to go ahead with the elections a risky venture.
