Boy, 13, born in girl's body: 'I want my eggs frozen so I can have children'

A teenage boy born in a girl’s body plans to have his eggs frozen so he can have children even after he has gender reassignment surgery as an adult.
Leo Waddell, 13, is having the procedure after being prescribed hormone blockers to stop his body developing into a woman’s.

He started living as a boy at five after behaving totally differently to his sister Daisy.
Leo, who starred in his own CBBC documentary on Monday, changed his name from Lily to Leo by deed poll on his 11th birthday and recently got his passport changed to male.
The surgery would see Leo, who plans to take testosterone injections when he turns 16, stop taking the blockers so he produces eggs that would be removed and stored.
Mum Hayley, 47, said: “Leo will come off his blockers for a couple of months so he produces some eggs, they will then take the eggs and freeze them.
"Then at some later date when he’s in a relationship, and they want children, they will use donor sperm to fertilise the eggs then implant them into his partner.”
Leo, of Lowestoft, Suffolk, said: “I definitely want to have it done so I can have my own kids when I’m older.
“I’ve got an appointment to go through what will happen and I’m excited.
"I have to do it now because once I start testosterone, I wouldn’t be able to do it because the male hormone kills the eggs.” ...Mirror
