Jack Randhawa, 33, launched the policy in September after he
became fed up of people buying small items so they could get change for
the bus and ticket machines.
He stuck a notice to the front door
of the Jack's News and Booze store in Halesowen, West Midlands,
saying: 'URGENT CUSTOMER NOTICE: MINIMUM SPEND OF £1.00 WHEN PAYING WITH
NOTES! CHANGE WILL NOT BE GIVEN UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE UNLESS SPENDING
OVER £1.00.'
Commuters and workers in the busy town centre have hit out
at Mr Randhawa and say his 'petty' policy will alienate his customers.
But Mr Randhawa, who claims to have suffered racial abuse since adopting
the controversial policy, is refusing to budge.
