Louis van Gaal has warned David De Gea Manchester United are already planning for life without him.
United goalkeeper De Gea,
out of contract in 12 months, has yet to accept an offer of a new deal
worth £200,000-a-week, with Real Madrid waiting to sign him for around
£35million.
Van Gaal put the pressure on Spain star De Gea to make his mind up over his future by revealing United have already drawn up a list of potential keepers to succeed him.
Mirror Sport revealed United are looking at Tottenham’s Hugo Lloris, while Stoke’s Asmir Begovic is being considered as a back-up to Victor
Valdes, who would be promoted to No.1 should they fail to land the Spurs
keeper.
Van Gaal, who will be without injured skipper
Wayne Rooney for tomorrow’s clash with Arsenal, said: “We have a list of
goalkeepers who can replace him because we have to be organised also.”
“We
want him [De Gea] to stay, so hopefully he shall sign. I don’t know if
we can offer him everything Real can, because I cannot speak for Real
Madrid.”
“We have three parties here and most important
party is always the player. We want him to sign but he has to sign, and
he has to want to stay here at Manchester United. I don’t know why he has not made the decision. I cannot say what he is saying to me.”
Van Gaal's comments come as reports in Spain suggest that personal
terms have been agreed between De Gea and Real Madrid ahead of a summer
move.
But United insist that such talk is a destabilising tactic from the Madrid camp and no deal is in place.
