Teachers took students to beach, gave them alcohol and had sex with them

Two California teachers have been charged over an unsanctioned beach party in which they allegedly gave students alcohol and had sex with them.

Melody Lippert, 38, and Michelle Ghirelli, 30, were arrested over the weekend after being accused of having sexual relations with high school students during two trips to the beach last year, according to the Los Angeles Times.

In one Lippert is accused of giving alcohol to students before beginning sexual relations with one, while on a separate overnight trip weeks later they were allegedly joined by Ghirelli, who allegedly had sex with an underage male student, Orange County Sheriff’s Office claimed.

Another equally popular actor who is said to be close to the late entertainer, Nonso Diobi however broke the news on social media minutes later while posting a picture of the late Enugu-based actor taken in the hospital before his untimely death. 

Presidency denies military handover plot as APC rejects interim government

The presidency has denied that it would not hand over to Muhammadu Buhari if the opposition candidate is elected in next month’s election.

Mr. Buhari’s campaign office had on Saturday issued a statement saying an official in the office of the President’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs, Doyin Okupe, posted the message on his social media platforms.

Mr. Okupe’s office said the claim by the Buhari campaign is false.

Jonathan says Lagosians now enjoy air-conditioned trains

 

President Goodluck Jonathan says his administration has transformed the railway system, adding that the people of Lagos now enjoy train rides in air-conditioned coaches.

The President said this in a Facebook post on Sunday.

Jonathan, who described the feat as a ‘silent revolution’ promised that his administration would do more in the coming years.

Nigeria: Petrol reduced to N87 per litre – FG

The Federal Government on Sunday announced a reduction in the pump price of petrol by N10 from N97 to N87 per litre.

The Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, announced the reduction while briefing State House correspondents at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Alison-Madueke said the reduction, which took immediate effect, was because of the recent drastic fall in the prices of crude oil in the international market.

Boko Haram kidnaps 80 and kills three in attack on villages in Cameroon

Suspected Boko Haram Islamist fighters from Nigeria kidnapped around 80 people, many of them children, and killed three others on Sunday in a cross-border attack on villages in northern Cameroon, army and government officials said.

The kidnappings, among the largest abductions on Cameroonian soil since the militants began expanding their zone of operations across the border last year, came as neighbouring Chad deployed troops to support Cameroon’s forces in the area.

Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State, Chief Davis Ikanya had told DAILY POST in an interview that the Adokiye Amesimaka Sports Complex was still under construction.

Chief Ikanya claimed that on occasions when the APC used the new stadium for its rallies, the contractor had gone on break.

“There are venues for rallies. They have not used that place before. When the contractors were on holidays, they did not apply for the place. Now that the contractors are fully back, they are just applying."

Blind man dies after warming towel in microwave

A blind man in America has died after accidentally setting his clothes on fire while trying to warm a towel in a microwave.

James Shaffer, 68, who was said to be living alone, from Pennsylvania was taken to hospital on Tuesday evening after he warmed the towel to place it on his sore leg.

However, investigators have said that a dry towel will burn in a microwave within 15 seconds, something that Shaffer didn’t realise, setting his clothes on fire.

A former Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, has begged former President Olusegun Obasanjo not to abandon President Goodluck Jonathan ahead of the February 14 presidential election.

Daniel’s plea came less than 24 hours after Obasanjo openly declared support for the re-election of Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, who is a member of the opposition All Progressives Congress.

Daniel, while addressing members of the Peoples Democratic Party at the inauguration of the Goodluck/Sambo Independent Support Team in Lagos on Saturday, said Obasanjo gave the people of the South-South region a sense of belonging by ensuring that Jonathan emerged as vice-president in 2007 and as President in 2011.

A United States-based political strategy firm, AKPD Message and Media, engaged by the opposition All Progressives Congress to improve its electoral fortunes is still active.

It was gathered in Abuja on Friday that the Chicago-based firm has been behind several of the party’s campaign messages and strategy.

The firm is best known for its leading role in President Barack Obama’s presidential campaigns in 2008 and 2012.

AKPD Message and Media is known to have worked with key Democratic Party candidates throughout the US.
